Airless Tip Size Guide — Which Tip for Which Paint?

The wrong tip size is the most common cause of bad spray results. Too small and you clog. Too large and you overload the pump. This guide covers TrueAirless TRA tips for all Magnum models.

How to read a tip code: TRA515 — first digit × 5 = fan width in cm (5×5=25cm). Last two digits = opening size in thousandths of an inch (15 thou). So TRA515 = 25cm fan / 15 thou opening.

Thinning tips

All paints lose moisture through airless atomisation. A general rule: thin any paint by approximately 5% water to compensate. This improves flow and reduces tip wear. Always check the manufacturer's datasheet first.

For unknown paints: check the label for "Airless / Spuiten / Spritzen / Pulvérisation airless". If only brush/roller methods are listed — do not spray without confirming with the manufacturer.
