Safety Guide — Read Before First Use

Airless Sprayer Safety — What Every Painter Must Know

Airless paint sprayers operate at up to 207 bar (3,000 PSI). This guide covers the hazards, PPE requirements, and pressure relief procedure. Read it before your first use — and every season after.

⚠ High-pressure injection hazard — risk of death or amputation

This machine operates at 207 bar (3,000 PSI). Fluid will penetrate skin. Injection wounds appear minor and are often painless — but internal damage is severe. Fluid disperses through tissue causing necrosis and gangrene. Amputation is common. Emergency staff frequently underestimate the severity — inform them immediately of the fluid type and operating pressure.

If fluid penetrates skin: this is a surgical emergency. Call emergency services immediately. Do not wait for symptoms.

Non-negotiable operating rules

NEVER direct the gun at any person or body part — including your own hands or feet

NEVER place any body part near or in front of the spray tip, even briefly

Engage the trigger lock EVERY time you stop spraying, even for a moment

Always perform pressure relief before tip changes, clears, or any service

NEVER attempt to stop a fluid leak with your hand or fingers

If injection occurs: call emergency services immediately — do not drive yourself

Required PPE

😷

Respirator mask

Half-face respirator with OV/P95 filters. Required for all spray painting — especially in enclosed spaces.

🥽

Safety goggles

Sealed splash goggles — not standard safety glasses. Paint mist and splashback are hazards.

🧤

Nitrile gloves

Chemical-resistant nitrile gloves. Latex gloves are not adequate for solvent-based paints.

🦺

Coveralls

Tyvek or similar disposable coveralls for full-day spraying. Protects skin from paint mist exposure.

Pressure relief procedure — do this every time

Perform this procedure before every tip change, clog clear, service, or when leaving the machine unattended.

1
Turn the power switch OFF
2
Unplug the power cord
3
Set the Prime/Spray valve to PRIME
4
Hold the spray gun firmly against the side of a metal pail
5
Pull and hold the trigger to release pressure
6
Engage the trigger lock
7
Open the drain valve slowly to release any residual pressure

Fire and explosion hazard

Keep the spray area well-ventilated. Keep the sprayer at least 6 metres from explosive vapours. Use water-based materials only unless the machine is specifically rated for solvent-based paints. No smoking in the spray area. Ground all equipment to prevent static discharge.

Electrical safety

The A100 requires 230V CEE (16A dedicated circuit recommended). Use only 3-wire earthed extension cords. Minimum conductor sizes: 15m = 1.0mm² · 30m = 1.5mm² · 50m = 2.5mm². Switch off and unplug before any service. Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.
